Community groups, representative bodies, welfare organisations and advocacy groups are a vital part of what we do. In this section you will be able find out about the services we offer, as well as find information that is relevant to you as a community organisation.
Multicultural community organisations
We are committed to helping people access information and services in their language. This includes information about Medicare, Centrelink and Child Support payments and services. We provide translated publications in your language to help customers learn more about our payments and services.
Our Multicultural Service Officers are specialists who help migrant and refugee communities connect with Australian Government services.
We provide free interpreters and translation services to help our customers conduct their business. When customers call us or visit one of our service centres, they can ask us for an interpreter for any business they need to do face-to-face or on the phone. Our interpreters are provided free of charge.
Customers can call our Multilingual phone service on 131 202 to speak to a staff member about a payment or service in their preferred language. Help is available in more than 200 languages.
You can stay up to date with news from across the department and the wider multicultural community by subscribing to our eNewsletter The Journey. The Journey is published bi-monthly and features information for multicultural community organisations and peak bodies around Australia. It informs, promotes and explains services and payments offered by the department for customers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
