Non-ongoing (Temporary) employment register
The Department of Human Services has two Non-ongoing (Temporary) employment registers – one for general vacancies and one for ICT vacancies. The registers are used for filling non-ongoing employment opportunities across a broad range of classifications, business areas and locations across Australia.

Entry level programs
- Australian School-Based Apprenticeships – apprenticeships aimed at year 11 and 12 students
- Apprenticeship programs – general and Human Services Information Communication Technology (ICT) apprenticeship programs
- Human Services ICT Cadetship Programs – Human Services Information Communication Technology (ICT) Cadetship Program
- Indigenous Cadetship program – Department of Human Services Indigenous Cadetship Program
- Employment as an interpreter or translator – a national database of over 2,600 contractors
- National Graduate Program – our National Graduate Program is geared towards helping you build a successful career, fast
- Work experience programs – an opportunity for school leavers to gain work experience.
Indigenous programs
Indigenous programs aim to assist Indigenous employees gain qualifications that will develop their potential and increase their career prospects within the Australian Public Service. The department offers the following Indigenous programs:
