Local Advisory Group
The Playford Local Advisory Group has developed a strategic plan, and has identified some key priorities which it will work to achieve in the local community.
To develop sustainable and long term solutions that support jobless families and young people with a particular focus on:
- Indigenous education and employment
- Mental Health education and employment
- Young People in transition to independence.

Local Solutions Fund successful Round 2 grants announced 1 May 2013
On 1 May 2013, the Minister for Human Services, Senator the Hon Jan McLucas, announced the successful projects from the second round of the Local Solutions Fund.
The Local Solutions Fund provides funding across the 10 selected areas from 2012-2015 to support projects designed by the local community. The funding is for innovative and creative solutions to increase social and economic participation in the 10 Local Government Areas.
The following projects in Playford have received funding through the Local Solutions Fund.
Transitions program
Organisation: Service to Youth Council Inc.
Funding: $415,364
The Transitions program builds on the individual strengths and interests of young people to support a successful transition from school to training and employment. It provides young people with the support they need to overcome their individual barriers. Tailored to the aspirations of each young person, Transitions provides community based mentoring, counselling, peer workshops and advocacy to help participants achieve independence.
Youth on the Move (YOTM) program
Organisation: Centre for Equality Ltd
Funding: $278,864
The Youth on the Move (YOTM) program will engage participants in a long term, meaningful cadetship program that will assist young people in realising and developing their full potential. It is designed to create career and life opportunities for individuals, and to encourage their active community engagement through sport. The program will provide pre-employment and life skills training that will involve collaborative relationships with key local sporting and community clubs.
Enabling Change with Aboriginal Families project
Organisation: The Australian Centre for Social Innovation
Funding: $294,016
The Enabling Change with Aboriginal Families project seeks to extend the Family by Family (FbyF) response focusing on stabilising relationships within the family and the community of Playford. It will provide training to families who want to take on a coaching role to support other families in the region. This will support the coaches in developing their skills which will increase their employability while also encouraging other families to learn and embrace local opportunities. The project is a collaborative model which will share learning’s with other community service providers so they can adapt their programs to best meet the needs of the Aboriginal community.

Employment through Cooperation project
Organisation: Inclusive Directions Incorporated
Funding: $180,000
The Employment through Cooperation project will deliver accredited training in children's services over a 12 month period to local parents. It will improve local employment, and build relationships of support between local adults and children and will also increase the accessibility of child care in the community.
