Claiming Child Care Benefit

You should submit your claim for Child Care Benefit to us as soon as possible, so that you can be paid from the earliest possible date.

Before you start

Before you start your claim for Child Care Rebate read the Information booklet about your claim for family assistance.

Claiming options

You can claim Child Care Benefit online or in person.

Online

Our online services are a secure, convenient and easy way to start a claim for Child Care Benefit. Once you have completed your claim online, bring the supporting documents requested on the claim form to a service centre within 14 days.

In person

You can make a claim by filling in a claim form and bringing it to your nearest Service Centre with your proof of identity and required supporting documents.

Complete the Claim for Child Care Benefit for registered care form or the Claim for Approved Child Care payments form online or download a copy.

If you do not have access to a printer, call us on 136 150 and we will post one to you.

Submit your claim

After submitting your claim you will need to provide any other verification documents requested within 14 days.

We will ask for information to assess your entitlement including you and your partner's income.

The sooner we receive your documents, the sooner we can process your claim.

We will automatically assess your eligibility for Child Care Rebate when you lodge your claim for Child Care Benefit for approved child care.

Claim outcome

We will inform you whether your claim is successful. If you are eligible for Child Care Benefit, we will tell you when your payment will start and how much you will get paid.
