Online letter notification

An Online Letter notification is an SMS or email that lets you know that you have a new Online Letter. To view the letter, you will need to log on to Centrelink Online Services. If you have provided a mobile-phone number and an email address, you can choose how you would like to be notified.

If you are living permanently outside Australia, or you leave Australia to live in another country, your notifications will be sent to you by email only.

If you have provided your email address, please ensure that:

  • your email address is correct and current
  • you have listed the Department of Human Services as a trusted email address so that any emails we send you are not rejected as SPAM and
  • you have enough space in your mailbox to receive notifications.

If you change your mobile-phone number or email address, you need to tell us straight away. To report any changes, you can log on to Centrelink Online Services and select 'Personal Details' from the menu, or you can call us or visit your local DHS Service Centre.

Your privacy

We will not send you any direct links by which to view your online letters, so that your private information remains secure.

You will receive only notification of a new online letter by SMS or email. You will then need to log on to our secure Centrelink Online Services and access your letter from the 'View Online Letters' service.

Responding to Online Letter notifications

Emails and SMS messages sent in response to online notifications are not monitored. Please do not reply to Online Letter notifications.

If you have a payment-related enquiry, please contact us in another way for assistance. You can call us or visit your local DHS Service Centre. You can also send us feedback or request assistance through the feedback and complaints section of Online Services.
