Centrelink customers

Centrelink customers should create an account with Centrelink Online Services.

How to set up an account with Centrelink Online Services

If you have a Customer Reference Number (CRN)

You can find your CRN on letters or cards Centrelink has sent to you. Enter your CRN to complete your registration for Centrelink Online Services.

If you do not have a Customer Reference Number (CRN)

If you want to complete an online claim you can start the registration process. You will receive a Customer Access Number (CAN) to complete your registration.

When you have completed your registration for Centrelink Online Services, you can create an australia.gov.au account. With an australia.gov.au account you will be able to access your Centrelink, Child Support and Medicare services with a single user ID and password.

Medicare and Child Support customers

Medicare and Child Support customers should create an account with australia.gov.au to register for Medicare and Child Support Online Services.

How to set up an account with australia.gov.au

  • Have your Medicare card number and/or your Child Support Reference Number (CSRN) ready. These numbers will be on any letters sent to you by the Department of Human Services.
  • Have some additional information about your recent Medicare and/or Child Support transactions ready to help you answer our security questions. Information such as the date of your last visit to the doctor, your specialist’s name, the bank account details that your payments are made to and receipt numbers and appointment details will be useful.

You should allow between five to 15 minutes to complete the process of creating an account and registering for online services.
