Delays in processing payments
You may be aware that the Department of Human Services is currently experiencing a very heavy demand for services. Rest assured that our experienced staff are working hard to process your payment claim as soon as possible.
Most families assistance claims are finalised within 21 days. If we require further information for your claim, or at times when we are particularly busy, you may experience a longer wait time.
It is important you contact 131 272 about any Child Support assessments that you require. Child Support assessments can still be made while your claim for Family Tax Benefit is being processed.
If you are claiming Age Pension, Carer Payment, Carer Allowance or Disability Support Pension, we will contact you to discuss your claim within 14 days.
Unless something urgent arises, you do not need to contact us.
If you want to add more information to your claim, please send it to the relevant address for your payment type so it can be automatically linked to your claim. Please make sure you include your Customer Reference Number (CRN) and your full name, date of birth and address.
