Commonwealth Seniors Health Card

The Commonwealth Seniors Health Card is available to self-funded retirees and seniors of age pension age who are not receiving Centrelink or Department of Veteran Affairs income support payments.

The card provides access to Australian government health concessions such as reduced cost prescription medicines through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, and a lower Medicare Safety Net threshold.

The Commonwealth Seniors Health Card is subject to an adjusted taxable income test. Holders of the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card are also entitled to a quarterly Seniors Supplement payment to assist with household expenses such as rates, telephone and electricity.

People who hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card and receive the Seniors Supplement will automatically receive a Clean Energy Advance on 25 June 2012. If you have a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, but do not receive the Seniors Supplement you will receive a letter in the mail advising that you need to provide your details to receive the Seniors Supplement and the Clean Energy Advance. All you will need to do is complete the attached form and return it in the reply paid envelope.
