Income Management

Income Management is a practical measure to assist customers to meet essential household needs and expenses.

Income Management is designed to ensure that money provided for the welfare of individuals and families is spent on priority needs and expenses. It sets aside a percentage of certain income support and family payments to pay for goods and services such as food, housing, clothing, education and health care.

Alcohol, tobacco, pornography, gambling products or gambling services cannot be purchased with income managed money.

Income Management does not reduce entitlements and customers will receive the remaining part of their regular payments in the usual way.

Basics Card

The BasicsCard is a PIN protected card that allows customers to access their income managed money through existing EFTPOS facilities at approved stores and businesses. The BasicsCard provides customers on Income Management with a greater choice and flexibility to purchase priority goods and services from a broad range of merchants.

Matched Savings Payment

Under Income Management customers may be eligible for a Matched Savings Payment of up to $500.

Each dollar saved into a customer’s personal bank account will be matched up to a maximum of $500.

If eligible, the Matched Savings Payment will be paid directly into the income management account.
