
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program
Language, literacy and numeracy training is available to eligible people who would like to make everyday life easier or increase their chances of getting a job by improving their language, reading, writing and maths skills.
You may be able to get language, reading, writing and maths training if you:
- are 15 to 64 years of age and have registered with Centrelink as a job seeker
- between 21 and 64 years of age, registered as a job seeker and receiving certain income support payments
- are an Australian citizen or a permanent resident and your first language is not English
- are a migrant who has been in Australia for two years or more
- hold a temporary or provisional visa (conditions apply)
Further conditions may apply.
Up to 800 hours of free accredited training is provided for those who are eligible. Some people who undertake Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations approved Language, Literacy and Numeracy training may be eligible to receive a supplement to help meet the incidental costs associated with this training.
