Nominee arrangements
Nominee arrangements allow you to authorise someone to act on your behalf when dealing with Centrelink and, in some cases, receive your Centrelink payments.
There are three types of arrangements you can make for someone to deal with Centrelink for you.
Authorising a nominee
You can authorise another person to handle your business with Centrelink on your behalf. This person is called a 'nominee'. This arrangement allows you to authorise someone to act on your behalf when dealing with Centrelink and receive your Centrelink payments if you wish. Nominee arrangements are voluntary and can be cancelled at any time.
Authorising a Person Permitted to Enquire
This arrangement authorises a person or organisation to only make an enquiry on your behalf. It is not the same as a nominee arrangement as it only allows a person to enquire on your behalf in relation to your payment.
Authorising a Group Payment Arrangement
You can also authorise for your Centrelink payment to be made to an organisation such as nursing home or hostel. This is known as a Group Payment arrangement.
