Pension Supplement

The Pension Supplement is paid as part of certain regular fortnightly income support payments and helps eligible people meet the costs of daily household and living expenses.

An application for Pension Supplement is not required. If a person is eligible, it is included as part of their regular fortnightly income support payment.

You will get Pension Supplement if you are receiving:

  • Age Pension
  • Bereavement Allowance
  • Disability Support Pension (except if you are under 21 years of age and have no children)
  • Widow B Pension
  • Carer Payment

You can choose to receive part of the Pension Supplement, known as the minimum Pension Supplement amount, as a quarterly payment.

If you do choose to receive Quarterly Pension Supplement it will be paid with your first regular income support payment that is issued on, or after, 20 March, 20 June, 20 September and 20 December. You will continue to receive Pension Supplement each fortnight, however the amount will be reduced.
