
Pensioner Concession Card
A Pensioner Concession Card gives cardholders access to Australian Government health concessions and helps with the cost of living by reducing the cost of certain goods and services.
You will get a Pensioner Concession Card if you receive the following income support payments:
- Age Pension
- Bereavement Allowance
- Carer Payment (adult)
- Carer Payment (child)
- Disability Support Pension
- Newstart Allowance or Youth Allowance (job seeker) if you are single, caring for a dependent child, and looking for work
- Parenting Payment (single)
As a cardholder you will pay less for prescription medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. You may also be entitled to various concessions from the Australian Government including:
- bulk billing for doctors' appointments (this is your doctor's decision)
- more refunds for medical expenses through the Medicare Safety Net
- assistance with hearing services through the Office of Hearing Services
You may also receive various state and territory government concessions for reduced costs for property and water rates, energy and telephone bills, public transport fares and vehicle registration.
The goods and services covered by a Pensioner Concession Card vary depending on which state or territory you live in.
