Pharmaceutical Allowance helps people with the cost of prescription medicines.
Pharmaceutical Allowance helps you with the cost of purchasing prescription medicines. It is paid to eligible income support recipients with their regular fortnightly Centrelink payment.
Your eligibility for Pharmaceutical Allowance is automatically assessed when you claim a Centrelink payment.
Note: It is a good idea to keep a record of how much you pay for your prescriptions. Once you have reached the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Safety Net threshold, all medicines under the scheme are free for the rest of that year.
