
Interpreter and translation services
Centrelink provides free interpreters and some translation services to help customers understand Centrelink services in languages other than English.
Customers can ask Centrelink to arrange an interpreter for any Centrelink business that needs to be done either face to face or on the phone. Interpreters are provided by Centrelink at no cost. Centrelink interpreters follow a Code of Ethics and all information discussed is treated confidentially.
Centrelink also provides a free translation service where necessary to support a claim. Bilingual staff may be available in some Centrelink Service Centres to help with customer enquiries.
