LPG Vehicle Scheme

A grant to support the uptake of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as a transport fuel for private use vehicles.

The LPG Vehicle Scheme has now closed

The LPG Vehicle Scheme closed on 30 June 2014.
You may be eligible for an LPG Vehicle Scheme grant if:

  • on or before 30 June 2014, you completed an LPG conversion or purchased a new vehicle fitted with LPG prior to its first registration, and
  • your application is received within 12 months from the LPG conversion or new vehicle purchase, and on or before 30 September 2014

Grant amount

Eligible private vehicle owners can claim a grant of:

  • $2,000 after buying a new vehicle fitted with LPG before its first registration, or
  • $1,000 after converting an existing registered vehicle to operate on LPG only, LPG and petrol, or LPG and diesel

Only apply if you meet the eligibility criteria above. Your application must be received at a Department of Human Services Service Centre or by post to the LPG Claims Processing Unit by 30 September 2014.
