There are several payments and services to help you if you provide full-time care to an older Australian.

Assistance for carers

Carer Payment provides financial support if you are unable to work in substantial paid employment because you provide full-time daily care for someone with a severe disability, medical condition, or who is frail aged.

Carer Allowance is a supplementary payment for people or carers providing additional daily care to someone who has a disability, medical condition, or to someone who is frail aged. Under the National Carer Strategy, some Carer Allowance customers have increased eligibility for Bereavement Payment.

Carer Supplement is an annual lump-sum payment to assist carers with the costs of caring for a person with a disability or medical condition.

Assistance for the person being cared for

The Continence Aids Payment Scheme helps eligible people with permanent and severe incontinence to pay for incontinence products.
