Changing your details

Let us know if there has been a major change in your life, including changes to your income and contact details.

Who does this information apply to?

People registered with Centrelink, Medicare or the Child Support Agency. This is especially important if you receive a payment or service that might be impacted by a change in your circumstance.

What details you need to provide

If you are currently receiving a payment or service from Centrelink or Medicare, or have child support obligations or agreements with the Child Support Agency, it is important that you tell us when any of your details change.

By letting us know as soon as possible, we are able to make sure that you are getting the right payments and services. If we have the wrong details you may have to pay overpaid benefits or you may not receive important information. We can also direct you to new payments and services that may be able to assist you.

Please let us know if any of the following change:

  • contact details
  • income
  • birth or adoption of a child
  • separation or divorce
  • a partner or family member dies
  • studying or training commitments

How to update your details

You must contact each agency that you deal with separately to change your details. Some changes can be made over the phone while other changes require you to be registered with the agency's Online Services. You may also be required to attend a Centrelink Service Centre or Medicare Service Centre in person and provide documents to support your changed circumstances.
