Flood assistance
We provide several payments to help if you are affected by flood, including the one-off Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment if your Local Government Area has been declared eligible. You may be able to get paid an income support payment immediately if you are not already getting a Centrelink payment. If you are eligible and you already receive a Centrelink payment, you can get an advance lump sum payment.
Payments if you are affected by flood
There are several payments and services available to support people who have been affected by a flood event.
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) may be available to assist people who have been adversely affected by natural disaster. A separate one-off payment is currently available for flooding events in parts of New South Wales and Queensland.
Crisis Payment is a one-off payment that helps those who have experienced difficult or extreme circumstances. It is different to an Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment. You may claim the Crisis Payment if you were affected by a disaster and you have not received, or are not qualified for, Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment.
Our Special Assistance Schemes assist eligible Australian residents and others who were directly or indirectly affected by natural disasters. This assistance is for health-related out-of-pocket costs not covered by our Medicare services, other government programs, private travel or health insurance.
Special Benefit is a payment that helps if you are in severe financial need and cannot receive any other Centrelink pension or benefit.
Mobile Service Centres provide access to our payments and services if you live in rural or regional areas.
