Help with community care

Community care is home-based care to help older people remain active and connected to their own communities. This is done through the Home and Community Care program.

Help with residential care

Residential care is a combination of care and accommodation for older people who have been assessed and approved as aged care recipients. To find out if you are eligible for Australian Government subsidised care you will need an assessment.

Income assessment for residential care fees
If you receive payment from the centrelink program and you move into a residential aged care home, you need to update your details within 14 days in case it affects your payment.

A Centrelink Financial Information Service Office can help you understand the financial implications when you, or someone close to you, is considering moving into residential care.

Help with ageing

In addition to mainstream aged care services there is range of specialised support for those living in the community who are dealing with some of the more common effects of ageing, such as dementia, incontinence and eyesight problems.

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres provide carers with information, coordinate respite services, help carers access these services, and arrange individual respite when needed.
