Improved regional access to child support services
26 July 2007
Minister for Human Services, Senator Chris Ellison today officially opened a new Regional Service Centre (RSC) in Mildura and announced that four additional regional locations are set to benefit from better access to child support services.
“The Child Support Agency (CSA) roll-out of new RSCs in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia increases the support provided to separated parents in regional and rural areas and will bring the Australia-wide total number of RSCs to 27,” Senator Ellison said.
Joining the new Mildura RSC later this year will be CSA service centres in Warrnambool, Orange, Tamworth and Kalgoorlie with all facilities to be co-located within local Centrelink or Medicare offices.
Under the four year, $150 million Building a Better CSA reform package, the CSA has reshaped its service delivery to be more customer focussed and increased services in regional areas.
“CSA has worked hard to tailor personalised outreach and face-to-face services to parents, particularly those who have complex or high need cases,” Senator Ellison said.
The new Regional Service Centres will generate up to 21 local jobs in total, with CSA employing Customer Service Officers and Team Leaders in each location.
Australians interested in working to support separated parents through CSA can visit the “Careers” section of www.csa.gov.au.
Customers can call 131 272 to find their nearest RSC and to make an appointment for advice and assistance on child support issues.
