Immediate Priorities
The Department has the following key objectives:
- delivering services to Australians focusing on ways to reform and enhance services in the future
- develop strategies to reduce fraud and non-compliance to ensure that only those who need and are entitled to social security payments receive them
- coordinate and improve the effectives of services for indigenous Australians to tackle social dysfunction in Indigenous communities, through implementation of Government welfare reforms and maintaining a focus on the implementation of Reconciliation Action Plans across the Human Services Portfolio
- drive the Job Capacity Assessment Program to maximise workplace participation
- in conjunction with Centrelink and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs manage the implementation of the Child Support Scheme Reforms and the Building a Better Child Support Agency reforms
- deliver efficient and effective vocational rehabilitation services in a competitive marketplace through CRS Australia
- provide effective leadership to support Portfolio agencies in responding to natural disasters in a rapid and flexible manner
- timely and effective delivery of all government commitments that impact on Human Services, including Budget measures.
