Budget & Implementation Branch

The Branch ensures service delivery implications are taken into account in the development and implementation of new policy which impacts on Human Services agencies.

The Branch’s main responsibilities include:

  • developing a policy and budget framework that addresses the Minister's priorities and desired policy outcomes
  • coordinating Human Services agencies input to the Federal Budget process and whole-of-Government budget documents, specifically the development of the Portfolio Budget Submission
  • developing, managing and contributing to the implementation of key government services delivery reforms, including child support and family law
  • progressing and contributing to programme design and service delivery to better suit the needs of Indigenous Australians
  • contributing to cross government policy development to ensure Human Services delivery considerations are reflected in advice to government. Current areas of focus include:
    • pandemic planning
    • the Banks Taskforce on Reducing the Regulatory Burdens on Business
    • housing policy and
    • children's policy.
