Job Capacity Account services
The Job Capacity Account commenced on 1 July 2006 at the same time the JCA program was launched. The objective of Job Capacity Account services is to help people overcome, manage or work around their pre-vocational barriers. This enables people to actively participate in, and get effective outcomes from, the Job Network.
JCA providers assess the work capacity of individuals and refer them directly to the appropriate providers of Australian Government employment services for assistance, such as the Job Network. Only clients referred to the Job Network are eligible for Job Capacity Account services.
Job Capacity Account provides a referral option for Job Capacity Assessors to identify interventions for individuals looking for work. Under the initiative, Job Capacity Assessors will be able to refer individuals to a short term service or support programme where they are assessed as being ready for Job Network once they have received that short term support.
It is expected that Job Capacity Account providers are allied health practitioners such as social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation consultants or other suitably qualified persons. The qualifications of those conducting Job Capacity Account services must be reviewed by DHS prior to them offering the services to JCA providers.
