National Immunisation Programme – new and amended listings

Under this measure, the current Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) will be expanded to collect vaccination data for all National Immunisation Program vaccinations.

This Budget measure is subject to the passage of legislation.

Description of the measure

Under this measure, the current Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) will be expanded to collect vaccination data for all National Immunisation Program vaccinations. This will apply to people living in Australia when the vaccination is provided through non-school based programmes such as community programmes and general practitioners.

The new register will be established to support recommendations of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee in November 2014.

Who is affected by this measure

All Australians who receive vaccinations under the National Immunisation Program, excluding those received through a school based vaccination programme.

All Immunisation Providers who administer vaccinations under the National Immunisation Program will also be affected.

The date this measure will start and finish

This measure will start on 1 September 2016 and is ongoing.
