This Budget measure is not subject to the passage of legislation.

Description of the measure

This measure provides eligible asylum seekers residing in the community on Bridging Visa E (BVE) with work rights.

Eligibility is determined by the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection or by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

If a BVE holder finds employment, it may affect their payment under the Status Resolution Support Services.

  • newly released into the community on a BVE
  • in the community on a bridging visa
