Supporting Drought Affected Communities - Immediate Assistance

The existing 5 drought coordinators will continue until 30 June 2016 and 2 new drought coordinators will be deployed from 1 July 2015 in drought-affected areas.

This Budget measure is not subject to the passage of legislation.

Description of the measure

This measure will continue the 5 existing drought coordinators across drought-affected areas of New South Wales and Queensland.

Two new drought coordinators are to be deployed to service Western Australia and the border of South Australia and Victoria.

The new coordinators will begin on 1 July 2015 and continue for a period of 12 months, ending on 30 June 2016.

Drought Coordinators travel throughout drought affected areas to meet with service providers, attend community events and facilitate coordinated support to farmers and their families.
