Description of the Measure

The Department of Social Services will develop a new ICT system for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Quality and Safeguards Commission. This system will replace existing state and territory quality and safeguards systems.

To prepare for this, the Department of Human Services will update the existing National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) ICT system.

These updates include:

  • removing current provider registration functions that will no longer be applicable
  • enabling data exchanges where required, and
  • modifying the NDIA system to support the Commission’s provider implementation activities.

The Department of Social Services and the Department of Human Services will start this work in the 2017-18 financial year. This will allow the Commission to start operating in New South Wales and South Australia from 1 July 2018.
