Funding the Jobs for Families Package

This measure pauses indexation of Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A base rate, and maximum standard rates of FTB Part A and Part B for two years from 1 July 2017.

Description of Measure

This measure pauses indexation of Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A base rate, and maximum standard rates of FTB Part A and Part B for two years from 1 July 2017.

FTB Part A maximum standard rates will remain for two years at:

  • $4,766.90 per year for each child under 13 years, and
  • $6,201.35 per year for each child aged 13-15 (or 16-19 years if the child is in secondary school).

FTB Part A base rate will remain for two years at:

  • $1,529.35 per year for each child aged under 18 (or 18-19 years if the child is in secondary school).

FTB Part A rate for approved care organisations will remain for two years at:

  • $1,529.35 per year for each child aged 0-19.

FTB Part B rates will remain for two years at:

  • $4,055.15 per year for families where the youngest child is under 5 years, and
  • $2,832.40 per year where the youngest child is aged 5-18 years.

This change applies automatically to all new and existing customers who receive FTB Part A or FTB Part B. There are no changes to when or how payments are made.
