STEM ICT Scheme - Alisha

My name is Alisha. I joined the Department of Human Services in the first intake of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) ICT scheme in 2016.

I work as a Project Officer in the CIO (Chief Information Officer) Group in Adelaide.

The chance to be a part of the STEM ICT scheme was unexpected, but exciting. It has brought with it many opportunities, continued learning and development, and a dynamic and stimulating workplace.

I completed a double degree of a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours. Moving into an environment that utilises my tertiary background and encourages ongoing learning was an important consideration for me. I have found this environment in the department. Some ongoing learning highlights to date include gaining a SAP global qualification and commencing a diploma. Being a part of the STEM ICT scheme has also provided me a permanent position with the department and the opportunity to embrace a new and challenging workplace.

As my recruitment with the STEM ICT scheme involved relocating from interstate, I am currently enjoying getting to know Adelaide and exploring the surrounding regions. In my spare time I love to travel, avidly consume books and most forms of media, and spend time with my dog.

Being a part of an organisation which has tangible outputs that help others is very rewarding. If you are looking for an inclusive and diverse workplace that provides the opportunity to apply your knowledge and qualifications into worthwhile and meaningful outcomes, you should consider applying for the STEM ICT scheme.
