eRecruitment system troubleshooting

Tips on common technical issues that may be experienced while using our eRecruitment system.

Web browser guidance

When accessing our eRecruitment system you may receive the following error message

This browser is not supported. To access the system, you need to install or update your browser to one that is compatible.

As at May 2014, these include:

System time out

The system will time out after 30 minutes of inactivity. To access your incomplete application:

  1. Select log on and then Employment Opportunities
  2. Select My Applications
  3. Highlight the required application and select Apply

We recommend you draft your responses in a separate document such as Microsoft Word or Notepad. You can review your responses and use spell check to check spelling and grammar. When complete you can copy and paste your responses into the online application.

Pop up blockers

When accessing the eRecruitment system you will need to enable pop ups. When you select a job posting you may receive a notification advising to turn off your web browsers pop up blocker.

Adobe PDF

Documents on the eRecruitment system are created as PDFs. You need to ensure you have a PDF reader installed.

Back button disabled when logged on to the system

Once you log on to the eRecruitment system, the back button has been disabled. You won’t be able to navigate to previously viewed pages.

If you need to return to a previous page, you will need to click on the black arrow, which sits to the right of the back button to select the page you wish to return to.

Smartphone and tablet technology

The eRecruitment system is not compatible with smart phone and tablet technology.

Other helpful hints

  • if you are having trouble viewing the position overview PDF check the URL address in your browser is the same as in the PDF. The URL should begin with HTTPS. If it doesn’t, you may need to adjust your internet settings
  • if you have received an error you may need to clear your cached internet files. If you continue to receive an error message, submit a screen shot to us so we can investigate
  • set up the careers@humanservices.gov.au email address as a trusted source within your email account or program. Check your email spam folder regularly. It is common for unknown email addresses to be sent there if you are using a web based program
  • you can’t use internal departmental email addresses when creating your profile. If you work for us, use your personal email address
