Claiming Child Care Rebate

To be assessed for Child Care Rebate, you need to claim Child Care Benefit for approved child care.

Before you start

Check if you're eligible for this payment before you start your claim.

You'll automatically be assessed for Child Care Rebate when you're assessed as eligible for Child Care Benefit for approved child care. Then, if you and your partner meet the work training study test for the rebate or meet an exception to the test, your payment will be made automatically.

Child Care Rebate is different to Child Care Benefit. It's important to remember that Child Care Rebate is not income tested.

In some cases, we may assess you as being eligible for Child Care Benefit for approved care but not entitled to any Child Care Benefit payments because your income is too high. You may still be eligible for Child Care Rebate as the rebate is not income tested.
