Notification time limits for Schoolkids Bonus

The final instalments of the bonus were paid in January and July 2016. If you were eligible and didn’t get them, you need to let us know in time.

The most common reason for not getting the bonus when you’re eligible is because your study details are not up to date in our records. In most cases, you can update this online.

Once you update your details, you’ll be paid within 2 working days. This includes any top-up payments for children moving from primary to secondary study.

Different time limits apply for families and students.

Families

Eligible families getting Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A for a dependent child have until 30 June 2017 to tell us.

If you claim FTB for the 2015–16 financial year as a lump sum, we’ll check if you’re eligible for the final instalments as part of your claim. Make sure you submit your claim and confirm your income by 30 June 2017. Read more about time limits for lodging lump sum claims and confirming income.

Students

Eligible students must provide or update study details by 31 December 2016.

Youth Allowance and ABSTUDY customers can check and update study details using Centrelink online account through myGov. Other students need to call or visit a service centre.

If you’re unable to update online, you can call us.
