You should only submit your claim for ABSTUDY if you meet the general eligibility criteria and the eligibility criteria for an award. We will then determine the correct ABSTUDY allowance and payment rate.

Living Allowance maximum rates

You may get ABSTUDY Living Allowance if you are eligible for the Schooling B, Tertiary or Master’s and Doctorate awards. These payment rates are only a guide. They are for full time students and apprentices. Use our online estimators to work out how much you might get.

We update the rates each year on 1 January for people younger than 22 and 20 March and 20 September for people 22 or older.
