Update your study details using your Centrelink online account
You can update your student details using your Centrelink online account.
This guide outlines how you can update your study details for Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY and Pensioner Education Supplement.
As a student there are a number of updates you can complete yourself, including:
- updating the details of your current studies including study load, contact hours per week and student ID
- changing the end date of the studies that you are currently undertaking
- removing future study details if your plans change
You can also add new study and course details. Learn how to add new study details using your Centrelink online account.
Step 1: Sign in
Once you have signed into myGov and selected your Centrelink online account, you can access your study details from the menu, or via the my profile tile on your account homepage.
Step 2: Study card
Select the Study card in the personal section your profile.
Step 3: Study details
You can now view and edit your current, past and future study details.
If you need help at any time, select the question mark icon to access the help menu.
Select an option that best suits your situation. Options include:
- to confirm the end date of your current course, to confirm the end date of your current course, select Confirm end date and continue on to step 4
- to edit your current course details, including the end date of your course, select Edit and continue on to step 5
- to remove a future course from your record, select Remove and continue on to step 6
Step 4: Confirm end date
Your course end date will be displayed.
If the date has changed, enter the new date by selecting the calendar icon.
To confirm the date, answer the additional questions displayed, then select Next and continue on to step 7.
Step 5: Edit study details
Your current study details will be displayed.
If you need help you can select the highlighted text for a short description of the field you need to complete or select the question mark icon to access the help menu.
If you no longer wish to continue with your updates, you can select Back to return to step 3 and the previous screen or Cancel to cancel your updates and return to your Centrelink online account homepage.
Update the relevant fields for any details that have changed, then select Next.
Additional questions may appear as you enter in your changes.
Select the campus you will be attending, then select Next and continue on to step 7.
Step 6: Remove study details
A pop up window will appear to confirm that you want to remove a future course from your record.
Select Cancel if you do not wish to remove this future course and go back to step 3.
Select Remove to confirm the removal of this future course.
After you have confirmed the removal of your course, you will need to answer any additional questions displayed based on your individual circumstances.
Select Next once you have made your selection.
Step 7: Review and submits
A summary of the details you have provided will be shown.
Read the details on this page carefully.
If all the information is correct, accept the declaration, then select Submit.
Step 8: Receipt
We will provide a Receipt ID as confirmation that your study details have been submitted successfully. You only need to make further contact if you receive a message specifically telling you to contact us.
A summary of the information you have provided can be displayed by selecting Information you provided.
You can print a copy of this page for your records by selecting the printer icon.
Select Finish to return to your Centrelink online account homepage.
Step 9: Sign out
Once you are back at your homepage, you can complete other transactions.
Select Return to myGov to return to your mygov account.
For your privacy and security, ensure you ‘sign out’ when you have finished using your myGov account.
