Changes to repaying HELP debts
If you have a HELP debt and are overseas from 1 July 2017, your repayments may change.
If you’re overseas for at least 6 months for travel, study or work, you’ll repay your HELP debt in the same way as people living in Australia.
This applies to new and existing HELP debts.
Travelling or living outside Australia may also affect your health care and Centrelink payments. You should read the rules about how this may affect you if you leave Australia.
