Child care payments are being balanced soon
This year we’ll start balancing child care payments from 24 July 2017.
We balance Child Care Benefit and Family Tax Benefit payments at different times. This means you may receive any top ups as 2 different payments.
Before we can balance your child care payments, we need to know your income details for the financial year.
This means you need to:
- lodge a tax return with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), or
- tell us that you don’t need to lodge a tax return
You need to tell us your income details if you receive Child Care Benefit. If you only receive Child Care Rebate, there’s nothing you need to do.
If you have a partner, we’ll need to confirm their income too. They’ll either need to lodge their tax return, or you can tell us they don’t need to lodge. We can’t balance your payments until we have this information. You don’t need to declare FTB or child care payments as income.
We also need your child care provider to send us your child’s child care attendance for the year. We can’t finish balancing your payments until we have this information.
It will take at least 2 weeks to balance your payments. We’ll send you a letter or online letter to let you know the outcome.
