Claiming online for Youth Allowance and Austudy just got easier and faster

Claiming online is simple. Answer some questions, provide the required documents, submit your claim and leave it with us.

We’ve made it easier to know what documents you need to provide when claiming Youth Allowance or Austudy as a student. After you’ve answered the claim questions, you’ll get a checklist so you know exactly what you need to give us.

If you don’t submit your documents in time your student claim for Youth Allowance or Austudy will expire. Submit all documents on your claim checklist within 14 days. If your claim does expire, you will need to start again.

Make sure you’re subscribed to electronic messaging and we’ll remind you before the 14 days are up.

Once you’ve submitted your claim online, it’s easy to track it.

Use the Claim Tracker in your Centrelink online account through myGov or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app to check the progress of your student claim for Youth Allowance or Austudy.

You don’t need to call us or visit a service centre to check where your claim is up to.

We’ll let you know if your claim is complex or may take more time to assess.
