Claiming online for Youth Allowance and Austudy just got easier and faster

Claiming online is simple. Answer some questions, provide the required documents, submit your claim and leave it with us.

We’ve made it easier to know what documents you need to provide when claiming Youth Allowance or Austudy as a student, Australian Apprentice or trainee. After you’ve answered the claim questions, you’ll get a checklist so you know exactly what you need to give us.

Submit all documents on your claim checklist within 14 days. If you don’t submit your documents in time your claim may expire. If your claim does expire, you will need to start again.

Make sure you’re subscribed to electronic messaging so we can send you notifications at important stages while we process your claim.

Once you’ve submitted your claim online, it’s easy to track it. Use the Claim Tracker in your Centrelink online account through myGov or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app to check the progress of your claim.

You don’t need to call us or visit a service centre to check where your claim is up to.

We will then notify you if your claim is complex, we need more information or if we need more time to assess your claim.
