Last chance to lodge 2015-16 tax return

To avoid a debt, lodge your tax return or tell us that you don’t need to lodge one.

If you received Family Tax Benefit (FTB) in 2015-16, you needed to lodge your tax return or tell us you didn’t need to lodge one, by 30 June 2017.

You needed to do this even if you only received FTB for part of the financial year.

We’re still waiting for some families to give us this information. You need to do so as soon as possible as it’s now overdue. If you have a partner, they need to provide this information as well.

If you or your partner don’t provide us the information, we’ll ask you to pay back all the FTB you received in 2015-16.

If you are lodging a tax return, you don’t need to do anything else once you’ve lodged the return. We’ll get the information we need from the Australian Tax Office once they process your tax return. Remember, this can take a few weeks, so lodge your tax return as soon as possible.

If you don’t need to lodge a tax return, please tell us as soon as possible. You can tell us by using the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app. In the app, go to My Tasks and select Lodging a Tax Return to tell us.

You can also tell us by using your Centrelink online account through myGov.
