Accessing Prescription Shopping Information Service in HPOS

A guide to help prescribers use HPOS to access a report listing medicines supplied to your patient in the last 3 months.

Once registered, you can call the Prescription Shopping Information Service any time and find out if your patient has been identified under the Prescription Shopping Programme. If your patient meets the program's criteria you can receive a Patient Summary Report on the amount and type of PBS medicine supplied to your patient over the previous 3 month period. The report will be available in HPOS for 14 days from the time of your call to the service.

Registration is available over the phone at the time of your call to the service or through completion of a registration form available for download from within HPOS.

You must have an individual PKI certificate to access this services through HPOS. PKI certificates ensure that information you submit through our online services is secure. Read more about PKI certificates, including how to get one.

View prescription shopping patient summary reports

  • select My Programs from the main menu in HPOS
  • select Prescription Shopping Information Program
  • select Prescription Shopping Patient Summary Reports
  • a list of reports available will display
  • select View next to the report you want to see
