Help your patients to receive their PBS refund payment
From 1 July 2016, Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) patient refund cheques and EFTPOS refunds at service centres are stopping.
Similar to Medicare, all PBS refund payments will be made via EFT directly into a nominated bank account. To make sure no one misses out, encourage your claimants to register their bank details to avoid delays in receiving their payment.
The Patient claim for refund PBS form has been updated to capture bank account details. It will be available from early June 2016 on the department’s website.
Any claims submitted after 1 July 2016 using the old PBS Patient Refund Claim Form will be rejected. A new claim using the updated form with a completed bank details section will need to be submitted.
If you provide these forms to your patients, please make sure you are providing the new form.
Whether claimants submit their claim at a service centre or via mail, their benefit will be paid directly into their bank account.
