Increasing Choice in Home Care reform is coming
From 27 February 2017, older Australians gain more flexibility when accessing Home Care.
Funding for Home Care packages will follow the care recipient to give them more flexibility. Older Australians can choose a provider based on their individual needs and circumstances. Any unspent home care amount moves with care recipients if they change providers. If they leave home care the unspent amount is repaid to them or their estate, and the Commonwealth.
You continue to get the Home Care subsidy and supplements on behalf of your care recipients. You need to report any Commonwealth portion of unspent home care amounts to us through your monthly claim.
As part of these reforms, we’re updating the payment system and the Aged Care Online System. This includes changes to the Home Care claim form and payment statements.
There are no changes to current fee and income testing arrangements.
