Your bulk bill latter day adjustment statements will be changing

From 1 July 2016, improvements to the Bulk Bill Latter Day Adjustment system will change the look of your bulk bill adjustment statements.

When a second or subsequent adjustment for a bulk billing claim is received, all service lines for that claim for the patient will now be displayed on the bulk bill adjustment statement. It is important that you are aware of these changes.

Previously, statements only displayed the service lines that had been adjusted.

The result line will show the difference between the original and revised service lines.

For an underpayment of the previous benefit, the system will display a reason code on:

  • the original line – 888 with details of the previous Medicare assessment
  • the adjusted line – 816 with details of the revised Medicare assessment underpayment, and
  • the result line – 861 with details of the adjustment of Medicare benefit previously paid

For an overpayment of the previous benefit, the system will display a reason code on:

  • the original line – 888 with details of the previous Medicare assessment
  • the adjusted line – 818 with details of the revised Medicare assessment overpayment, and
  • the result line – 819 with the overpayment of benefit recorded
