If you were single and receiving an income support payment for the whole 2017-18 financial year, we’ll balance your family assistance payments automatically.
We'll balance your payments automatically if for the whole 2017-18 financial year you were:
- single, and
- receiving an income support payment without breaks in payment
If this is you, you don’t need to do anything.
We won’t balance your payments automatically if you weren’t single and receiving an income support payment for the whole 2017–18 financial year. You’ll need to do something so we can balance your payments.
When we'll balance your FTB payments if you were single and receiving income support
When you receive your final FTB payment for the financial year determines when we:
- balance your Family Tax Benefit (FTB), and

To be eligible for the FTB Part A supplement your income must be $80,000 or less.
If we pay you the FTB Part A supplement you’ll have an overpayment if:
- you then lodge a tax return, and
- your adjusted taxable income is over $80,000
If this happens, you’ll need to pay the supplement back. We’ll let you know if you need to pay it back.
Talk to us if you’re worried about paying it back. We can work with you to set up a repayment plan you can afford.
