How much Pensioner Education Supplement you can get

There are 2 different rates of Pensioner Education Supplement you can get depending on your circumstances.

You’ll get $62.40 a fortnight if you’re an approved student studying full time.

You’ll also get this amount if you’re an approved student who:

  • studies at least a 50% full time course load and:
    • get Newstart Allowance or Youth Allowance
    • are a single parent
    • get Carer Payment
    • get a Partner Service Pension and Carer Allowance
    • have a disability and don’t get the Disability Support Pension or money from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs
  • studies at least a 25% full time course load and get:
    • Disability Support Pension, or
    • money from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs

You’ll get $31.20 a fortnight if you’re an approved student who:

  • studies between a 25% and 50% full time course load and:
    • get Newstart Allowance or Youth Allowance
    • are a single parent
    • get a Carer Payment
    • get a Partner Service Pension and Carer Allowance
    • have a disability and don’t get Disability Support Pension or money from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs

How long you’ll get it for

There are limits on how long you can get the Pensioner Education Supplement for.

We’ll calculate how long you’ll get the supplement based on:

  • the least time it takes to complete the course
  • any previous study or courses you’ve done
