Your payment may change from 1 July 2018.
We’re making some changes to the way we look at your parents’ or guardians’ income.
This might affect you if you’re a dependent student, Australian Apprentice or job seeker getting:
- Youth Allowance
- ABSTUDY Living Allowance
- ABSTUDY School Fees Group 2, or
- Assistance for Isolated Children Additional Boarding Allowance
Your payment rate may change if your parents or guardians:
- get an income support payment, and
- it reduces to zero for 1 fortnight or more because of money they earn
There are also some changes to family payments starting 1 July that may affect your dependent payment rate.
We may send you a letter asking for your parents’ or guardians’ income details. The letter will tell you how to give us this information.
If we don’t get your parents’ or guardians’ income details by the date in your letter, we’ll stop your payment.
If you don’t get a letter, you don’t need to do anything.
Remember, you need to tell us about any changes that may affect your payment. This includes changing your study load or course, or starting or stopping work. If you don’t tell us about changes, you may need to pay back money we’ve paid you.
Update your details in your Centrelink online account through myGov.
