If you’re already getting some types of payments, the claim process for Youth Allowance as a student and Austudy is simpler than ever.
If we already know some of your details, you won’t have to tell us twice. You’ll answer less questions when claiming online.
You’ll have a simpler claim process for Youth Allowance as a student, and Austudy, if you currently get one of these payments:
- Newstart Allowance
- Sickness Allowance
- Widow’s Allowance
- Parenting Payment (partnered or single)
You can submit your Youth Allowance (as a student) claim up to 13 weeks before your 22nd birthday without having to provide your parents’ or guardians’ financial details. If you claim early, you can start getting paid after you turn 22 at the independent rate.
