Five Healthy Start for School facts
13 November 2019
If you get Family Tax Benefit your child may need a Healthy Start for School check. Here are 5 things you need to know.
We’ll contact you if your child needs a health check
Your child needs to have a health check and meet Healthy Start for School requirements if both of these apply:
You can tell us online that your child’s had their check
From the main menu:
- select My Family.
- then select Family assistance.
- then select Update Healthy Start for School.
Your doctor doesn’t need to tell us your child’s had their check
We only need you to tell us.
When you do this, you’ll tell us the date your child had their health check. We don’t record the details of the check.
You have until your child’s 5th birthday to get the check
You need to do both of the following before your child’s 5th birthday:
- arrange and complete a health check for your child
- tell us your child’s had their health check.
If you can’t complete a health check for your child, call the Families line as soon as possible.
Your payment may reduce if you don’t do anything
If your child doesn’t get a health check or you don’t tell us, we may reduce your FTB Part A.
The reduction will start on your child’s fifth birthday and continue for up to 26 fortnights.
