Has your child had a health check?

If they don’t have one before they turn 5, your Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A rate will reduce.

Getting a health check means your child can have a healthy start for school.

If your child turned 4 on or after 1 July 2018, they may need to get a health check. This applies if your family gets an income support payment and FTB Part A.

You need to tell us your child has had a health check before they turn 5. If you don’t, we’ll reduce your FTB Part A payments from their 5th birthday. We may reduce your payment for up to 26 fortnights.

If your child is turning 5 and hasn’t had their health check, we’ll write to you. We’ll let you know what you need to do.

To arrange a health check, talk to your GP or health professional.

You can tell us when the health check is complete by using your Centrelink online account through myGov.
