Here’s what to do if we ask for your parents’ income information
4 September 2019
If you’re dependent and get Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY Living Allowance, you may get a letter asking for these details.
When we’ll ask for your parents’ income details
You may get a letter asking for your parents’ income details in September 2019. If we ask for this information, it’s important that you give it to us.
If you don’t get a letter, you don’t need to do anything. We already have all the information we need.
Why we need these details
We review your parents’ income each year to make sure you’re still eligible for your payment. We also use this reassessment to make sure we’re paying you the right amount.
How to give us these details
Ask your parents to follow the instructions in your letter. This is the easiest way to give us the information.
What happens if you don’t do this
If we don’t get your parents’ income details by the due date in your letter, we’ll stop your payment.
Where to get more information
Get your parents to go online to complete the income reassessment if you get the letter.
Ask us questions at Student Update on Facebook. Remember, you shouldn’t share your personal details when you contact us in a public space like social media.
